I’ve been getting a box of local, organic produced delivered each week from Nature’s Garden Express and I love it. Super reasonably priced, amazing quality and especially convenient. You can also order a ton of other items, like grass fed beef, local cheese, granola, etc. I primarily use the fruits and veggies to make my own juice and usually have to do so right away so all the produce will fit in my fridge! It’s my new Monday evening routine haha.
I rarely follow any specific recipes and instead just use whatever ingredients I have on hand…usually consisting of the following:
- Leafy greens! Kale, spinach, romaine, and swiss chard (my favorite just because it’s so pretty:)
- Occasionally beets
- Apples and/or pears (the more you add, the sweeter the juice…I don’t need it very sweet so just use one)
- Occasionally parsley or other herbs
The results are delicious!
In terms of the actual juicer, I did my research because I wanted something quality if I was going to spend the money, and went with the Omega J8006. It’s a slow, masticating juicer (aka “Cold Press”). Compared to a fast “Centrifugal” juice, it has higher juice yield, is quieter, and most importantly to me, it maximizes the nutrients, enzymes and antioxidants in the fruit/veggies due to low heat production. Juice will last up to 72 hours in the fridge.

The whole process takes me about 20-30 min to make 3 days worth of juice, so not too bad. You only need to cut the produce so that it’s small enough to fit down the tube, but otherwise there’s no need to remove any seeds or skin! Yay:)
I feel like it really helps my digestion and is a good way to alkalize your diet, since a lot of the food we eat is very acidic. My PT sent me this article about Acids vs. Bases (Alkalines) and it’s really interesting. I still need to look into it more and test it out, so I will let you know more when I do!
