    Nourishing the Root

I had the recent privilege of cooking for a wonderful group of women at Dr. Casie Danenhauer’s Retreat to Your Root: A Yoga-based Retreat for Body, Mind, and Spirit Healing of the Pelvic Floor. This was the same retreat I attended two years prior, which turned out to be a life-changing experience. I believe the retreat ultimately provided me the opportunity and space to tap into my root, sit with my intuition, listen to my truth, and take aligned action. I’m so happy to have been able to support other women along their path, this time through providing nourishment for their bodies, minds, and souls. We decided on an organic,…

My Journey to Health, Part IV: The Overhaul

I was the Midwest good girl, straight A student, Division I athlete, MBA graduate, corporate business woman…I did everything that was asked of me and more, and look where it got me. Sick. I think sick for a reason though…I had more to learn, more to grow and more to give. My life needed a change of course. Commitment, Changes and a Support System Deciding to take a leave from work to focus 100% of my time and energy on my health was scary, but a major turning point in my life. Luckily I was building a support system around me, including incredible roommates who were so supportive of all the weird things I…

    Simple Detox Soups

These are all VERY basic soups that I made during my Gut Protocol with Dr. Cole, designed to support die off of bad gut bacteria, as well as detoxification. Despite being simple, I found them to be incredibly nourishing and satisfying! Zucchini Basil Detox Soup Ingredients: 3 large zucchini, sliced 2c chicken bone broth (organic and homemade if possible) 1 onion, sliced 2-3 cloves garlic, chopped 1-2T coconut oil (unrefined) Fresh basil to taste (I like a large handful!) Pink salt to taste Directions: Melt coconut oil in large pot Add onion and garlic, saute a few minutes until aromatic 🙂 Add zucchini, broth and salt to taste Bring to a boil…

My Journey to Health, Part III: California Dreaming

California Dreamin’ on Such a Winter’s Day My next move was westward to L.A. – the land of kale, avocado, juice cleanses, yoga, canyon hikes, holistic healers, entrepreneurial hustlers, aspiring actors, Hollywood glamour and more. I had always dreamed of living in California, not knowing much about it besides being really far, expensive, and quite intriguing. But finally I was making it happen! I could hardly believe it. Santa Monica / Venice beach walks I was taking on another new position – this time in Sales, where my primary focus would be account management and developing a strategy for Delta’s presence in the music industry. It was exactly where I wanted to…

    Power Pudding

I crafted a bowl of chia pudding this morning that was so delicious and nutritious, I have to share 🙂 It’s super quick, easy, and the perfect well-rounded breakfast to start your day! Also, being gluten/grain-free, dairy-free and soy-free, it’s highly anti-inflammatory 👍   To make, soak the following overnight: 3T chia seeds (I used Bob’s Red Mill) 1c unsweetened vanilla almond milk (I used Califia Farms) Dash of vanilla and cinnamon to taste Then mix in: 2T Collagen Hydrosolate (Great Lakes Gelatin brand is my preferred – it’s a great source of protein, amino acids and overall nutritional support!) Pink Himalayan salt (my favorite ha) And top with: 1/4c…

    Jackson Hole for the Soul

I feel very lucky to have had a quick work trip to beautiful Jackson Hole, Wyoming. The second you step off the plane and breathe the fresh mountain air as you are surrounded by wilderness, your soul feels happy. Mine certainly was :). As always in my travels, I love finding hidden gems with delicious gluten free food and opportunities to move my body in new and ever evolving ways. Jackson Hole did not disappoint. I landed starving as I forgot to set my alarm and had to rush to the airport (typical), which didn’t allow me to have a delicious, fulfilling breakfast (very NOT typical ;)). After checking in at my hotel right…
