    Sweet with an Edge

If you know me, or read my blog, you probably also know that I love vintage floral dresses. I especially love this one because it has my favorite color (cream, yes), a belt (thank you for giving me a waist), lace at the neckline, the daintiest blue flowers, and the classic cut, but with a slightly shortened hem line. Making it a little bit sweet, with a little bit of edge 😉 I had to remove the shoulder pads, of course, and add an extra hole in the belt, but other than that it was good to go! This time I wore it on a hot early evening, while roaming…

    The Night Gown

The vintage floral nightgown repurposed as a different kind of night-gown. It’s amazing what a belt and heels (and slip – hello sheer) can do. I love this piece for its pastel colors, pattern, and flow. It is one of the most comfortable dresses I’ve ever worn and can work as a sundress for the day with flat sandals, or a soft evening gown with heels. {Also loving this stunning vintage bag from Arlee Park! It’s the cutest shop started by two sisters, who are also photographers, so you can imagine that everything is so well curated and looks quite picturesque 🙂 ) Do you have any favorite re-purposed pieces?!…

    Black, Tan, and Tee

When I was young, I thought you could never wear black and brown together. That was against the rule. Those were two separate colors that kept their distance. You could choose to go with blacks OR browns. Well, one thing I’ve learned is that some rules are made to be broken, or rather unlearned and re-defined. Because black and brown can definitely work. My preference being a lighter or warmer shade of brown to give a nice contrast. I ventured on a sunny walk along the Mississippi and to one of my new favorite cafes (Black: Coffee and Waffle Bar) in this combo. And yes, they have gluten-free friendly waffles 🙂…

    Flow

Writing on a Friday night, thinking about what I’m doing with my life. I don’t mean to think about it as much as I do, but I can’t help wanting to feel my purpose, like I am making a real and positive impact on people’s lives. So while I ponder how I best do that, here’s an outfit for you. In case you’re feeling fancy on a Friday 😉. And alliterating because it flowssss. I love these pants for so many reasons. 1) high waist (with a bow tie!) 2) the color cream (yes, my favorite color) 3) oh how they flow Enter balance, because opposites can attract: Long (pants) => cropped…

Just Wear It: Jungle Goddess Vibes

Too often I find that I have pieces of clothing I really LOVE, but rarely wear because I’m so afraid I’ll ruin it. Or maybe I want to save it for a super “special” occasion. But then, what’s the point of having it in the first place?? So I’m working on not only wearing the pieces I love, but also getting rid of anything that doesn’t bring me joy (even if it’s “practical”!). If you’ve read the book, The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up, you’ll know what I’m talking about 😉 I still have a ways to go on simplification, and letting go of things that no longer serve me (both in…

    When Old Becomes New

I turned a friends old dress into a new outfit today with this insanely comfortable Madewell piece. I could live in this dress. Seriously. It feels like a mix of preppy (loafers) meets glam (in black patent leather), with a feminine finish (Grandma’s pearls and thin belt). I’m definitely excited to experiment with this piece. Thinking about making it more casual with white canvas tennis shoes or dressing it up with a black blazer and heels! And thank you Hagar for letting me dig through your clothes!! Gotta love a good find like this:)

    Colorblocking at Work

It’s fun to pull something old (skirt) and new (shirt – Forever 21) together for a different work look. This week I went for some colorblocking with my top and even shoes to match! I could hardly believe it worked out so well haha. Plus a neutral colored statement necklace to add a little a little spunk, but not look too busy 🙂

    Summer is for Short Shorts

Summer is for short shorts. And white canvas shoes. Even though they still get dirty. These are my absolute favorites from Zara if you can find them in store…high-waisted and stretchy:)
